This article aims to outline the collaborative process with our clients, covering necessary communication and information exchange.
Phase 1️⃣ : Understanding Client Needs
Understanding client needs and prioritizing problems to solve is crucial. In this stage, we need to clarify:
1. The current challenges and their priority
2. The target audience for the website
3. The tone and manner - the desired style and personality of the website
4. Competitors
5. Expectations and specifications for the website
6. Identifying a consistent point of contact
7. Identify who is the final decision-maker for the website
8. Project Deadline
9. Budget
Phase 2️⃣ : Quotation and Proposal
I will provide solutions and quotations within the time and budget constraints. At this stage, we need to confirm with the client:
1. Whether the proposed solutions meet expectations.
2. The system architecture design (confirming website content and information hierarchy).
3. Quotation details
4. Website warranty period and fees
5. Contract details
6. Launch timeline
After confirming these details and signing the contract, the client is required to make the first payment.
Phase 3️⃣ : Project Kickoff - UX Design
This stage is divided into two parts:
1. Planning the user flow. While attractive design is important, usability and achieving user goals seamlessly are more crucial.
2. Creating wireframes. Determining the content placement on each page and prioritizing what users should see first requires client confirmation.
After confirming these details, the client is required to make the second payment.
Phase 4️⃣ : Visual Design (Web or App)
This stage is divided into two parts:
1. Providing two design options for the most important pages, for example, two different homepage designs with product pages. The client needs to select one.
2. Based on the chosen design, I will complete the other pages and present them to the client.
This phase involves multiple rounds of confirmation, which is normal. Final design confirmation will be documented for both parties' protection. Confirming all page designs before proceeding to development is crucial to avoid unexpected delays during development. Both parties should strive to prevent such situations.
After confirming these details, the client is required to make the third payment.
Phase 5️⃣ : Frontend and Backend Development
Our team of engineers will work on frontend and backend development during this phase, while the client prepares the content for the website.
Upon completion, our team will conduct internal quality assurance and control.
Phase 6️⃣ : Client Testing
After website completion, we'll demo it to the client and provide tutorial videos for backend management, if needed. The website will only go live after thorough testing by both our team and the client.
Upon website launch, the client is required to make the fourth, which is the final payment.
Phase 7️⃣ : Follow-up - Warranty
During the warranty period following the website launch, if the client identifies any bugs in the website system, we will be responsible for fixing them. These fixes are included in the warranty fees. However, this only applies to bugs within the existing specifications. Requests for additional pages, design modifications, etc., will be considered as part of a new project and discussed separately.
The above outlines the complete process for website system development. While the details may vary slightly from project to project, the overall approach remains largely the same. We hope this gives our clients a clearer picture of what to expect during the website development process.
